Table, Raisin & Wine Grapes - Management Practices to Protect WaterView Cover | Download | Order The arid, desert climate of the Central Valley supports thousands of acres of raisin, table and wine grape varieties. Some vineyards bordering waterways need protection from storm runoff that can carry pesticides and fertilizers. Pesticides, nutrients and sediment have the potential to be carried off-site through surface water runoff. Spray drift can also contribute to off-site movement of pesticides and some nutrients. To protect sensitive sites from the impacts of grape production, it is important to follow sound Best Management Practices (BMPs) whenever inputs such as pesticides and nutrients are used.
