Farm inputs, such as pesticides and nutrients, in their concentrate form pose the most hazard to handlers and the environment. Once a chemical is mixed into a spray tank of water, the hazard is less but still substantial. Handling a chemical, either as a concentrate or solution (chemical plus water), takes special precautions and considerations.

This brochure provides general tips and precautions to follow when mixing, loading and applying crop protection chemicals. For more specific instructions, please refer to the product label, MSDS, or Worker Protection Standards and contact your farm input supplier, local Farm Advisor, or Cooperative Extension Specialist.
