Mixing and Loading Crop Sprayers - Spanish versionView Cover | Download | Order Crop protection chemicals in their concentrate form, either as a liquid, granule or powder, pose the most hazard to handlers and the environment. Once a chemical is mixed into a spray tank of water, the hazard is less but still substantial. Handling a chemical, either as a concentrate or solution (chemical plus water), takes special precautions and considerations. A handler should be aware of the hazards and keep in mind contingency plans should a spill or leak occur while mixing or loading a sprayer. Crop protection chemical labels describe how to handle and mix or manage spills for each individual product. The comprehensive Worker Protection Standards provide detailed information on protecting workers who handle crop protection chemicals. In this brochure, our intention is to provide general tips and precautions to follow when mixing and loading crop protection chemicals. For more detailed instructions, please refer to the product label, MSDS, or Worker Protection Standards. If you have questions about an application, contact your farm input supplier, local Farm Advisor, or Cooperative Extension Specialist. Always read and follow label directions.
